Letter from John Ponsonby, first Viscount Ponsonby, [British ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary at Vienna], to Henry John Temple, third Viscount Palmerston: it has been impossible to send to Hungary as many men as were necessary for the service in so vast a field at a time of year when the movement of troops is no excessively difficult. The war is likely to be prolonged until after the bad season. 3 Apr 1849
