Letter from John Ponsonby, first Viscount Ponsonby, [British ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary at Constantinople], to Henry John Temple, third Viscount Palmerston: he has heard from Sir Edmund Lyons in more than one confidential letter of his unhappiness at the refusal of promotion to his son; he has not complained, only expressed his sorrow. 8 May 1841 The letter is marked “Private”. The docket notes that it was received on 12 June1841.
