Letter from John Ponsonby, first Viscount Ponsonby, [British ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary at Constantinople], to Henry John Temple, third Viscount Palmerston: he has received Colonel Sheil’s despatches. He does not think it right to send them by post and will therefore keep them a few days for the messenger. It appears that Kamran Shah and Mohamed Khan have completely broken from the English. 21 Apr 1841 The letter is marked “Private”. The docket notes that it was received on 16 May 1841.
