Letter from John Ponsonby, second Baron Ponsonby, later first Viscount Ponsonby, [British ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary at Constantinople], to Henry John Temple, third Viscount Palmerston: the Porte has ordered Muhlbach and Moltke to go towards Sivas. The Porte has adopted Ponsonby's advice not to be drawn into any hostile measures [against Russia]. Ponsonby will write by the messenger who is due in a few days. 28 Feb 1838
