Letter from William Lamb, second Viscount Melbourne, South Street, to Henry John Temple, third Viscount Palmerston: wise to ascertain formerly how France would receive a proposition. Melbourne is persuaded that the King could have finished the war with very little effort. The fear is that any measures may now be too late. Support in the House of Commons.
