Letter from William Lamb, second Viscount Melbourne, Brighton, to Henry John Temple, third Viscount Palmerston: the Queen approves of Palmerston’s despatch declining on her behalf to see Duke Charles of Brunswick in the manner which Palmerston proposes. Melbourne doubts the prudence of steering the question of Spain with the Northern powers unless Palmerston has previous reason to think that such a communication will be well-received. 19 Oct 1837
