Letter from William Lamb, second Viscount Melbourne, Brocket Hall, to Henry John Temple, third Viscount Palmerston: approves of the draft very much. He suggests that the word “clings” should be changed to “adheres”. The real result of the draft is that it exhorts the French government in more active and decisive interference in Spain. Melbourne does not object to this but it means that could not object to any further measures the French may choose to take. 27 Sep 1836
