Caption:
This curio is a letter from Osborne House on black-edged mourning paper, thanking Thomas W. Shore and the Hartley Institute for a model of the Hydrabad Diamond. One can but assume that the model took its pride of place in Queen Victoria's sumptuous Durbar Room, designed by Lockwood Kipling, father of Rudyard.
