The Picture of Southampton, and Stranger's Hand-book to every object of interest ... 2nd and complete edition
Caption:
Phillip Brannon was a famous local artist and engraver who made his mark in the guidebook and tourist trade. Steel engravings are interspersed throughout with a section of engraved trade cards or 'Card-Sheet' at the end, displayed here. Despite the presence of the Ordnance Survey and skilled copperplate printers in town, Brannon turned to the well-known London firm of Ackermann's to handle this job.
