SUMMARY OF THE YEAR'S WORK.
During the year ending in June, 1883, the Council and the Executive Committee have devoted nearly thirty sittings to the business of improving the condition of the Eastern Jews. In this work the Anglo-Jewish Association has had the constant cooperation of the Alliance Israelite, and the assistance of many other Jewish institutions in the Old and the New World. In consequence of this united action, and owing to the wide publicity afforded by the reports of this Association, the wants and claims of Jewish communities have been brought before all Israelites who desire to join in the work of elevating the. neglected Eastern Jews.
Whilst thankfully acknowledging these services, the Council have to discharge the mournful duty of noticing the gaps which death has caused in their ranks. The Rev. Aaron Levy Green died on the 11th of March. His literary abilities did much to ensure for
