In issuing- our Sixth Annual Report of the Branch we have to regret the falling-off of some of our old subscribers, which fact we attribute not to a want of sympathy with the Association or its objects, but in the majority of cases to the many home calls which have arisen during the past year.
It will, however, be seen at a glance by a reference to last-year's balance-sheet and list of subscribers that, although in point of numbers we show this year but a very slight advance on that of last, yet our financial position has improved to some extent, and therefore we are confident that, bat for the cause named the Branch would have held a far more gratifying position in this year's Report.
The Branch forwarded letters of condolence to Baron Henry De Worms, M.P., President of the Association, on the death of his father, the late Baron de Worms; to Mr. Serjeant Simon, M.P., one of the Vice-Presidents of that body, on the premature loss of his son, the late Mr. Algernon 0. Simon; and to the Rev. Professor D. W. Marks, a member of the Council of the Association, on the lamented demise of his estimable wife. Copies of the grateful acknowledgments of these communications will be found annexed.
