Bullar & Drew in 1846, and that by Mr. Shore in 1882. were written for a special purpose, viz., on the two occasions on which the British Association for the Advancement of Science held their Annual Meetings in this town.

First Edition authorized version of the Bible, 1611, containing the following
"John Favour Doctor of Lawes and Vicar of Halifax bom in Southampton in the parish of Holy Rood the 20th of January, 1556 out of the love he beareth unto his deare Countrie hath bestowed this Bible that it made be chayned to a deske in the Councell Chamber of the Audit house for the edification of those that shall reade therin is also that by the sight thereof the Magistrates may be put in mind of mercy and Jugement to do all things to Gods glorie and in love to their brethren-daie of Julie 1612."
