A TITANIC SURVIVOR.
[" Pictorial " Photo.
Our photograph represents Quartermaster Robert llichens, of 45, St. James' Street, Southampton, a survivor of the s.s Titanic, who is seen standing' at the base of the Queen Victoria Memorial, in the Market Square, Newport, I.W. Hichens was the last man at the >vhed before the big ship struck the iceberg, and he took the log at 10 o'clock on that never-to-be-forgotten night, and found that they had steamed 45 knots in two hours. He chanced to be in Newport on Wednesday last, and consented to be photographed for the " Pictorial." Before leaving the Island he visited the parents of a chum of his at Newport, and had a chat with them concerning ihfir son. who lost his life when the Titanic went down.
A THREE YEARS OLD CYCLIST.
" Pictorial " Photo.
Our left photo represents Master Ronald Chcverton, the tiny three-and-a-half-ycar-old son of Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Chcverton, of the Cycle Emporium, High Street, Newport. This little fellow has been cycling ever since he was 2J years old. As he " vigorously " pedals up and down the High Street, the unwonted spectacle is bound to attract attention—especially to- visitors. Newport ians arc, naturally, more familiar with the sight of the charming little fellow. A year ago he received a medal for his exhibition on the cycle track , at the Victoria Recreation Groupd, Newport. Mrs Cheverton and Miss Linda Chcvcrton arc seen with him in the right picture They are both motor
devoted to cycling in any and even form.
