Palk Memorial Lodging House, Southampton Soup Kitchen and School of Cookery (Late Industrial Ragged Schools Hound well)—The Objects of the Scheme are, 1st—To provide a safe lodging for girls out of place, or coming as strangers to the town, where they can have entire or partial board. 2nd—To provide reading and recreation rooms, open to all respectable girls and women on payment of a small sum. 3rd—To give the opportunity of attending classes lor instructions in cooking and other useful knowledge.
4th—To train young girls for domestic service. 5th_To
provide food, to be sold to the poor, at the lowest possible prices. 6th—To keep a registry of girls wanting any kind ol employment, the Committee being responsible for their respectability; also a list of those wishing to employ them. 7th—To continue the work of the Southampton bouj) Kitchen.
