The hours of business at the Custom House Long Room are from nine in the morning until three in the afternoon.
In the Landing Department, the hours are from eight in the morning until four in the afternoon, except for the examination of baggage, when t he hours are from six in the morning until eight at night.
All goods can be imported into the Port of Southampton; also Tea, from China, via Egypt and the Mediterranean.
The Imports into Southampton are very considerable, consisting of the most valuable productions of the East and West Indies, China, Egypt, Turkey, Italy, and France.
The Collector of Customs issues, by authority, on Tuesday and Friday Mornings, the Bill of Entry for the Port of Southampton. This publication furnishes an Abstract of the Customs' Entries, from official sources, and is delivered to Merchants, Traders, and others, at an annual subscription of £1 J Is. 6d.
