Regulations for the hire and fares of hack-
rbgu- net coaches, cabs, &o.
The following are the Southampton bye-laws for the regulation of hack-ney coaches, cabs, &c.
PARES FOE DISTANCE. ^
For every carriage drawn by two horses for any distance within, and ^ ^ over and above any number of quarter of miles completed. ^ ^
For every carriage drawn by one horse only, for any distance within, ^

FARES FOR TIME.

For every carriage drawn by two horses, for any time (employed in going from any stand and returning to the nearest stand after ^ being discharged,) within, and not exceeding, thirty minutes -20
Above thirty minutes, and not exceeding forty-five minutes ......
Above forty-five minutes, and not exceeding one hour ............
And for any further time exceeding one hour, then after the rate and pro-portion of eightpence for every fifteen minutes completed, and eightpence
for any fractional part of the period of fifteen minutes. ^ ^
And for every carriage drawn by one horse only, for any time (employed in going from any stand, and returning to the nearest stand after being discharged,) within, and not exceeding thirty minutes
Above thirty minutes, and not exceeding forty-five minutes ......
Above forty-five minutes* and not exceeding one hour ............
And for any further time exceeding one hour, then after the rate and proportion of sixpence for every fifteen minutes completed, and sixpence for
any fractional part of the period of fifteen minutes. . ,
Such rates and fares to include luggage not exceeding one hundred weight for a carriage with two horses, and half a hundred weight for a . carriage with one horse.
REGULATIONS.
Extra Fare.—That for every hiring, or so much of any hiring as may be performed after twelve o'clock at night, and before six o'clock in the morning, if such carriage shall be in the street, or taken from the public stand, the proprietor or driver shall and may demand and receive the ordinary fare and one-half the ordinary»fere in addition.
